The girls from Granlahan National school had a great victory on Thursday 17th June - when they won the County championship by beating the girls from Curraghboy National School. The girls from Granlahan National School will be playing Curraghboy at Hyde Park - Roscommon this Thursday the 17th June 2004 in the County Final. 4pm start Please try and get there to support them.

Luke Ming Flanagan elected

The Kiltullagh area has a new Roscommon councillor as from today. Newcomer - Independent Luke Ming Flanagan gained a seat - putting out Danny Burke. At the time of writing it seemed that Tony Waldron also won a seat and it was a close thing between Michael McGreal and John Murray - final result to follow.
Luke Flanagans past history involved a few run ins with the law about legalising cannibas - his current campaign didn't mention that though. Hopefully some fresh blood will shake up the Council and we might see a few lively debates in the coming months?

Glavey Girls victory in Final

The county final of the Under 12 girls gaelic football was played in Oran on Thursday last. Michael Glaveys were the winners by 1 point in a close game. Final score 4-3 to 2-8.
Well done to all the team and coaches. Article from the Roscommon herald

Bonfires burned in Ballinlough, Granlahan and Cloonfad last Thursday evening when Michael Glaveys under 12 girls did a tour of the parish after winning the county under 12 division 1 girls title. After a whistle stop tour with a huge cavalcade of supporters cars they returned to the club Community Centre in Ballinlough where a party was held for the successful players, families an d supporters. In a wonderful final played in Oran they defeated a gallant Clan na nGael team by a single point on a scoreline of 5-6 to 3-11. A large crowd witnessed what was a wonderful advert for ladies football with great skill , sporting play and total commitment from two sets of players. County Board officials present said they had never seen an underage final like it, such was the excellence of the play and the enjoyment of the spectators. It was a pity that there had to be a loser because there was never more than kick of the ball between the opposing teams. Alma Mannion, the team captain to tumultuous cheers from a massive crowd of supporters, received the cup from Micheal Cunningham the County Chairman and the same player also deservedly received the Player of the Match Award. The Michael Glaveys team was : Aisling Horan, Laura Waldron, Leanne Storey, Paula Jennings, Veronica Garvey, Rita Walshe, Lorraine Brennan, Alma Mannion, Amy Brady, Joanne Cregg, Hannah Donegan, Sinead Ryan, Ciara McDonald, Michelle Neenan, Anne Marie Heneghan. Subs used: Kelly McKay and Michelle McDermott. The team managers were: Brendan Cregg, Pamela Keadin and Joanne Ronane.
