The girls from Granlahan National school had a great victory on Thursday 17th June - when they won the County championship by beating the girls from Curraghboy National School. A strong breeze was blowing across the pitch of Hyde Park - forcing many of the large group of supporters into the back of the stand for shelter.
The wind was against Granlahan in the first half - but they still managed to gain a small lead of 4 points by half time. Helped by the wind behind them in the second half - the Granlahan girls kept up a determined fight against the strong opposition. Their lead was shortened to just one point early in the half - but gradually the Granlahan girls gained the upper hand - finishing as 10-3 to 5-6 winners in a high scoring game.
