Tea & Coffee morning: The 5th & 6th class Pupils of Carrick N.S. are holding a tea & coffee morning on Wednesday 28th May in the School from 9.30am – 11am in aid of Laura Freyne. Laura is taking part in Habitat for Humanity Zambia Project 2008, which aims to build brick houses for the very poor people in the town of Kawama, north of the capital Lusaka. Laura is from Ballyhaunis and is a Third Level student in NUIG. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Carrick N.S. Parents Association Annual Family Fun day will be held in Lough Harps Soccer Pitch, Ballinlough to-day Sunday 25th May 2008, 2pm-6pm (weather permitting). Lots of Fun & Sport for all ages also a Schools Soccer Blitz (to start at 12.30), Bouncing Slides/Castles, Face-Painting, Tombola, Races, Novelty Events, plus HB Ice-Cream Sunday party to raise funds for Down Syndrome Ireland. No Entrance fee, Donations optional.

Nursery Thymes Playschool, Cloonfad enrolment night Tuesday 10th June @ 8pm. To guarantee a place for your child for Sept. 2008, at least one parent must attend this meeting.

Over 60’s Computer Training: County Roscommon Higher Education Centre in Boyle will run Computer for beginners classes for those over the age of 60. They will run one morning & one afternoon a week for five weeks. Classes will start on 29th May 2008, and will cost €35. (This class normally costs €120). Feast of St Matthias, 2008: Sincere thanks to the large number of people from all over the Archdiocese who took part in the 33 hours of continuous Adoration to St. Matthias.

Exam Prayer: Lord Jesus, as I now prepare for my exams, I ask you to grant me strength of mind and constant hope. Banish from my mind all fear, anxiety, regret and nervous distraction. May your gift of the Holy Spirit guide and enlighten my fragile mind. At this difficult time, give me the gift of self-confidence and an assurance that you will hear my prayer. Answer my need and continue life’s journey. I ask this prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The Month of May is dedicated especially to Our Lady. People like to do something extra during this month to honour her and remind themselves that she is always there to help us. Try to have a May Alter in your home. It would help you pray. We hope to have the Rosary recited every evening during the month of May in the Granlahan and Ballinlough churches at 8pm. Please support this rosary.

Active Retirement Association: A meeting will be held in The White House Hotel on Monday 19th May @ 8pm to form a branch of the Active Retirement Association in the Ballinlough/Granlahan area. The regional organiser for the Western region will attend. All ladies and Gents over the age of 55 are invited to come along.

First Aid Course: Anybody interested in completing a First Aid Course at either Cloonfad Community Centre or Granlahan Community Centre in the near future, please contact either Mary Birmingham 087 9851338 or Stasia Carney 086 0531326.

Retreat in the Pastoral Centre Achill. From 1st-7th June Sr. Marie Carr and Sr. Cathleen Calvey of Loreto Sisters, Saggart, Dublin, and daughters of Mary & Joseph, Tallagh, are offering the opportunity of a directed retreat in the Pastoral Centre in Achill. The retreat is open to Laity, Religious and Priests. There will be time for prayer, reflection and each person will have the opportunity to reflect and talk to one of the directors each day. There will be time to relax and time to enjoy the beauty of the area. We wish to thank Archbishop Michael Neary who has given his permission for the retreat and also Fr. Brendan McGuinness, P.P. of Achill for his kindness and co-operation.
