A sincere thank you to all who attended the cemetery masses im Ballinlough and Teamhair cemeteries. Thank God the day was favourable for them and large crowds attended. Our gratitude to the many people who helped organise and prepare for the masses, may God reward you for your goodness.

We joyfully congratulate Fr Noel Winston, formerly of Marystown, now working in South Africa, on his Golden Jubilee. May he continue to enjoy good health and happiness, working in the Lord’s vineyard for many years to come. May the Lord continue to bless him.

The annual church gate collection for the County Roscommon Support
Group takes place o 16th and 17th August.

St Patrick’s Missionary Society, Kiltegan, Co Wicklow, wish to thank you for your generous response to their appeal. Those who subscribed to “Africa” will receive their copy shortly.

Western Alzheimers : Roscommon Lions Club are hosting a charity golf classic on Aug 8th and 9th in aid of Western Alzheimers Respite Centre, Tulsk. Teams of 4 €200 (includes meal). Sponsorship welcome. Contact 090 6627816

A Ballinlough Calendar
2009 containing many interesting photographs from the local area, is on sale in the local shops now. It will make an ideal gift for family and friends at home and abroad.

The National Novena at Knock Shrine commences Thursday 14 August with 2 sessions daily 3pm and 8.30pm - except Fri 15th and Sunday 17th – when ceremonies begin at 2.30pm with the anointing of the sick.

Cloonfad Resource Centre: thee will be an “Open House” in the centre in Derrylahan on Sunday Aug 3rd from 4 to 7pm. Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy some light refreshments and to view all the facilities at the resource centre. You might take a walk on one of the walking routes while you are there. We look forward to seeing you.

A Station Mass will be held in the home of Thomas and Teresa Hebron and family, Barrinagh on Friday Aug 8th at 8pm. This is for the station areas of Barrinagh, Kiltullagh and Lisnagroobe.

The Mayo-Roscommon Hospice church gate collection takes place this weekend at all Masses.

As a result of the Tuam Diocesan Assembly which took place some time ago – a Tuam Diocesan Youth Council has been formed. The following is it’s Mission Statement :
” Tuam Diocesan Youth Council is inspired by Jesus’ special love of and care for young people. It seeks to help young people to live as followers of Jesus and to take an active role in the life and ministry of our Church. Tuam Diocesan Youth Council endeavours to ensure that all young people from our diocese are offered opportunities to experience, live, explore and celebrate their faith in challenging and meaningful ways. It does this by supporting and resourcing faith centred events at parish and diocesan level.”
