Mass of thanksgiving to celebrate the work of the Religious in the Diocese of Tuam: On the feast of the Presentation, Candlemas, 2 February, a mass of thanksgiving will be celebrated to honour the work and contribution of the Religious in the diocese.  The mass will be in the Cathedral at 7.30 pm.  Refreshments will be served afterwards in St. Jarlath’s college.  All welcome.

Mary Connolly, the liturgy resource person for the Archdiocese of Tuam will speak to liturgy groups from each Parish Pastoral Council on Wednesday 3 February from 8.00 to 10.00 pm. at the Rest & Care Centre, Knock and on the following two Wednesday nights.  Please support.

Loughlan Sofield will make a presentation to Priests and members of the parish Pastoral Council of the Archdiocese entitled “Pastoral Councils & Collaborative Ministry in the Parish” on Monday 15 Feb 7 pm – 10 pm. and again on Tuesday 16 Feb. 2pm – 5 pm.  Priests or members of the parish Pastoral Councils are free to attend either.  These are the new arrangements for the presentation.  Three members of each Pastoral Council, Cloonfad, Granlahan and Ballinlough are invited to attend.

Are you over 60?  Have you a small repair job you would like to have done for you?  Roscommon Care & Repair uses a pool of trustworthy volunteers to carry out minor repairs for older people.  Jobs range from replacing light bulbs to fitting door chains and spy-holes or smoke alarms, putting up shelves, changing locks, moving light pieces of furniture across a room and taking down curtains.  The service is free.  You only pay for the materials used.  For more information contact 094-9621644.

We hope to have the blessing of St. Brigid’s crosses and candles and also the blessing of St. Blaise for throats at the beginning of February.
Loughlan Sofield will address Pastoral Council members of the Archdiocese of Tuam in the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris on the topic of “The Future Serving of the Parishes in the Archdiocese of Tuam”.  The meeting will take place on Monday 15 February from 7 pm to 10 pm.  Three members from each Pastoral Council are requested to attend.
Tuam Diocesan Youth Council:
  • Third Level Students!  Tuam DYC is organising a Third Level pilgrimage along the way of St. James, the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain in late May.  If you would like to join us or just to learn more about our plans please come along for some pizza to the Common Room, The College Chapel, NUIG on Monday January 18 at 6.30 pm.  All welcome.

  • Sing and Sway!  Diocesan Youth Gospel Choir.  Tuam Diocesan Youth Council is in the process of establishing a Gospel Choir.  The choir, made up of young people from the ages of 16 – 23 will have monthly rehearsals and will sing at diocesan youth events.  The choir will also serve as a resource for local / cluster youth initiatives.  The Musical Director of the choir will be Brendan McGuiness, a third year Music and Theology student from Knock.  Can you sing and sway at the same time? Join us in the Prayer Guidance Centre, Knock on Saturday January 29 from 3 – 5 pm.
Sequence Dancing will recommence in the White House on Thursday
21 January between 5 and 7 pm.  All are welcome.
