Heartiest congratulations to Ms. Delia Greene, Coraslustia, who will celebrate her 100th birthday on Friday 8 January.  There will be a special mass to celebrate this happy and historical occasion on Friday 8 Jan at 12 noon.  The Greene family would like to invite all members of the local community of Granlahan to celebrate this happy occasion with them in St. Patrick’s church, Granlahan and afterwards to refreshments in Granlahan Community Centre.  As Parish Priest of Kiltullagh Parish I join with Delia’s family, her many relations and friends and parishioners in congratulating her most heartily.  This is a unique and historical celebration.  I thank God that he has blessed her with a long life.  May he continue to bless her in the future.

I want to thank the many people who helped to take care of our churches, Ballinlough & Granlahan and decorated them so beautifully, inside and outside, for the Christmas Feast, a real welcome for the Christ child.  So much hard work went into it all, we are truly thankful to all who took part.

Blood Donation Clinic:  The clinic will be open for donations on Tuesday
5 January from 4.30 pm. to 8.30 pm. at Scoil Íosa, Ballyhaunis.

Roscommon Underwater Search and Rescue Unit will hold their annual Church Gate Collection this weekend.  All monies collected will be used for the maintenance of the unit.  We would like to thank you for your generous support in the past and hope you will be able to support this collection.

New Years Greetings
I wish to extend New Year’s greetings and good wishes for 2010 to you all.  I hope the year ahead will bring you health and happiness and I pray for God’s blessings on all your work and undertakings in 2010.  May God guide and direct all our efforts during the New Year.  I pray for God’s blessings on all families and I pray especially for children in examination classes and those who are seeking employment.  May you all be successful in your endeavours.  I welcome all who have come to live in our community.  I wish those people and their families happiness and success in our parish.  With God’s help and guidance may the year ahead be a good year for us all.

Senior Citizens’ Party Committee:  There will be a short meeting of the committee in Ballinlough Health Centre on Wednesday 30 December at 8.00 pm. to finalise the arrangements for the party.  All who are interested in helping are asked to attend.

Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser: The annual fundraiser in aid of Cystic Fibrosis will take place again this year on 27 December in the Hillside Tavern, Granlahan at 9.00 pm.  Your support is greatly appreciated for this worthy cause.  We would like to thank everyone for their support last year.  In total

Christmas Greeting

The Priest’s collection for the support of the priest of the parish will be taken up at all the Christmas masses.


The Granlahan Fair Day Committee would like to wish everyone a happy Christmas.  Many thanks for all your help and support over the past year with the successful Fair Day and the more recent Mr. & Mrs. Competition.  Funds after costs from the Fair Day amounted to 1510.  A donation of €200 has been given to Granlahan N.S., €300 towards the new Christmas lighting with 650 raised from Mr. & Mrs. Competition.  The remainder to be retained for insurance and costs next year.


Youth Café.  The Ballinlough / Granlahan youth café committee express sincere thanks to all who gave so generously to the carol singing fundraiser.  We raised 201.14.  We would also like to thank everyone involved in organising the event as well as the youth involved.
