Grey Larsen visit to Cloonfad

Mr Grey Larsen, the world-renowned traditional musician, paid a visit to Derrylahan Resource Centre in Cloonfad on Monday last. Grey was born in Cincinnati and has no known Irish relatives. He learned his music from the Dunmore, County Galway Irish emigrant Michael J Kennedy who in turn had been tutored by the late Mick Concannon from Derrylahan, Cloonfad Mick died at a very early age but his music legacy remained. While on his recent visit to Dunmore to mark the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann he heard about the newly opened Resource Centre in Derrylahan and so he paid a visit to trace the birthplace of the man that made him the Irish music legend that he is today. Unfortunately his time was limited but he has promised to make a visit to Cloonfad to spend more time in this particular area to find out more of the local history and take in the scenic walks.
