The 24th annual Best Pheasant competition was organised as usual by Ballinlough Gun Club on the Ist November.
Twenty members entered birds and the weigh-in took place took place in Campbell's lounge.The winner of the Champion Bird Perpetual Cup was Peter Silke of Keyfield and Manchester.
In second place and the winner of the Campbell prize was John Hurley.
Anthony Baggott took the third prize.T
he Bill Price Shield for the heaviest bird went to Joe Foley while the prize for the best white ring was won by Dominic Carty.
The Silke Shield for fox control was won by Eamon Carty.A raffle for each member entering a bird took place afterwards and the bottles of wine were won by Eugene Flanagan and Tony Grennan.Anthony Baggott, who was compere for the evening, thanked everyone who took part. He had special words of thanks for the main sponsors who were Padraig Campbell, Castlerea Credit Union and Bill Price.Thanks was extended to John Robinson, the regular judge, for all his commitment and dedication to the job on hand.Anthony also had words of thanks for the Ladies Committee who looked after the food for the occasion.
