"Lake O’Flynn Anglers Association held their inaugural trout fishing competition and Lake shore Bar-b-que on Sunday 29th August. Fishing was from boat only and there was an excellent turnout of junior anglers despite inclement weather conditions.
The results are as follows:
1st prize for heaviest trout and winner of the Mannion perpetual trophy, Sadbh MacDermot, Castlerea;
2nd prize for heaviest trout Ronan Baggott, Ballinlough;
3rd prize for heaviest trout Andrew Judge, Ballinlough;
4th prize for heaviest trout Darragh Lynch, Ballinlough;
5th prize for heaviest trout Christopher Graham, Ballinlough.
1st prize for heaviest catch of trout Julie Mannion, Castlerea;
2nd prize for heaviest catch of trout Berenice Mannion, Castlerea;
3rd prize for heaviest catch of trout Oliver Quinn, Ballinlough.
Everyone enjoyed the day out. The club extends its thanks and appreciation to Brendan Kelly chef for the day who provided a wonderful bar-b-que and picnic.
The club wishes to thank the Mannion family Castlerea for presenting the new Mannion Perpetual Trophy in support of the competition. Finally the club thanks the boatmen for their time and patience in bringing out the young anglers for their day out.
The next competition to be held will be the Campbell Cup which included a junior section for the Gerry Greene Shield which will take place on Sunday, September 12th. Fishing 11.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.. More details to follow next week"
